Aber die mittelalterliche Kirche hatte dem Werk Christi viele menschliche Leistungen hinzugef\u00fcgt, weshalb man nicht mehr sagen konnte, dass die Erl\u00f6sung ausschlie\u00dflich durch Christus und sein S\u00fchnopfer erfolgte. Dies war die grundlegendste aller Irrlehren, wie die Reformatoren zu Recht erkannten. Es war das Werk Gottes plus unsere eigene Gerechtigkeit. Das reformatorische Motto solus Christus wurde formuliert, um diesen Irrtum zu widerlegen. Es bekr\u00e4ftigte, dass die Erl\u00f6sung ein f\u00fcr alle Mal allein durch das Vermittlungswerk des historischen Jesus Christus vollbracht worden ist.
